Rosalinda

Written by: Iris Argaman Illustrated by: Netali Ron-Raz

With a single letter and some good will, Rosalinda and Aaron forge a bond and discover the power of friendship, in the spirit of the well-known phrase

Two are better than one

[Ecclesiastes, 4:9]

Rosalinda and Aaron make readers encounter the feelings of loneliness, the desire and yearning for a connection, and the possibility of daring to try and create a new friendship. Just like them, many children often experience the painful sense of loneliness, when they are alone and yearning for comradeship, or surrounded by their peers.

פעילות בחיק המשפחה

  • Discussion Who are your friends in class? In the neighborhood? What do you enjoy doing together? Do you feel alone sometimes? Perhaps, together, you could think of what you could do when you are feeling all alone.
  • Illustrations tell a story The illustrations in this book depict various animals: a cat, some birds, butterflies, and an owl. Can you find them? Notice the points in the story in which they make an appearance, and who they can help.
  • Words of emotion The letters in the story describe feelings: missing someone, loving someone, feeling happy… How about making some cards with words of emotion, as well as phrases that describe these emotions, and connecting each word with the sentence describing it? Missing someone: I wish we could see each other again Loving someone: It feels good when we're together Feeling happy: This tune makes me want to jump up and dance Feeling thankful: I'm so glad we met! Thank you for coming round!
  • Having a party Would you like to party like Rosalinda and Aaron? You could use the invitation they made to write an invitation of your own, prepare one of the dishes they had at their party, play some party music, and dance together. You could even take some photos during your party, and save them in an envelope inside the book you've received.
