Welcome to Sifriyat Pijama!
Sifriyat Pijama is the Israeli version of the American program PJ Library, which was created by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation out of its deep commitment to the Jewish people. (PJ Library now operates in more than 20 countries in a number of languages, including Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian). Sifriyat Pijama is a classroom-based reading-readiness program, operated in partnership with the Israeli Ministry of Education, that aims to instill a life-long love of reading in young Israelis. The program distributes high-quality literary books in Hebrew, carefully chosen to invite discussion on values and Jewish/Israeli heritage in school and at home. Children, ages 3-7, are introduced to the books in class, and then take them home to keep and enjoy. Sifriyat Pijama offers Israeli children and their families an opportunity to expand their home library and to create a tradition of reading bedtime stories together and enjoying meaningful conversations on values and heritage.
